Thought you all would enjoy seeing these pictures since they looked so
omnimous but caused no damage in Dayton. Our daughter, LeAnn H.
McDowell sent these to us yesterday. Said lots of wind and heavy, heavy
rain(whick they DID NOT need) and some F1 tornadoes in the area, but our
family was spared. Our son-in-law is in the Air Force and stationed
there after returning last year from 3 and a half years in Germany.
They are in really nice base sponsored housing, but none of these new
houses(5 years and less)have any kind iof storm shelter. That worries
me, but just pray for their safety every day.

Enjoy your coverage of all the weather and maybe you did not see a post
I made on your blog page years ago, but want you to know how your
warning and the Hand of God saved us and our house in the spring of 1993
when our subdivision, Broken Bow on Highway 119 in North Shelby County,
took a direct hit from a tornado. Your warning we heard on the FM part
of our portable radio was part of saving our home and us. Our home was
spared even as the heavy wrought(sp.?) iron furniture on our deck was
being picked up by the tonado! When my feet had touch the basement
floor, and we heard the tornado taking up the furniture, I dropped onto
mty knees and began praying that the Lord would spare us and just that
second the noise stopped and all was quiet. We heard the furniture
being dropped back onto the deck, then total silence. We waited a few
minutes then I came back up the stairs to the kitchen where an even more
amazing thing lay before us. The kitchen door to the deck that had been
closed and locked when we went to the basement at your warning, James,
but then there were wet leaves and trash all over our kitchen on all
sides and even in the dining room whose doorway was behind the kitchen
door! The back door had been blown open and our house was on its way to
being destroyed and us under it, when the Grace of God picked up the
tornado, and it was gone, saving us and our home and probably houses
around us as well. My husband and I just stood there with goose bumps
all over us and thanking the Lord, knowing how close we had come to
loosing everything including our lives!

We thank you all for your coverage of the weather events and don't let
those few complainers change the way you all cover these terrible
things.
