Frederick J. Hanna & Associates contacted me concerning a Bank of America debt, how should I respond and what are my options?
I am unemployed and have been so for five months now. Due to this have lost my home being unable to pay rent and now have move back in with my parents in South Carolina. I own up to the debt but I am unable to pay it, I am looking into writing a letter in response to these people but I only have come across this format below, should I change it and include the fact I am unemployed or just send them a cease and desist dispute letter and have them send me validation copy of the debt, but this seems odd because I know of this debt, like I said I own up to it, just cant do anything about it right now.

well this coming from a collector it would be stupid to send a letter disputing this. they will come back within 30 days saying you owe it. I used to collect for bofa and they are bad about adding a crap load of interest to debts. if the balance isnt too much i personally would ask my parents to help. then i would go back to b of a and work out a settlement. it would look better on your credit than an r9 of course but it does give your credit a hit. dont hide behind a cease and desist cuz the next thing you get slapped with is a letter telling you that you have to go to court. not worth it. and what is the reason for the C&D? just dont want phone calls. well sorry to tell you but you owe the debt now you have to deal with it. doesnt matter if you have been unemployed for 5 months. you signed a contract. now you are in breach of said contract and there isnt really anything you can do. but ask your parents and see if they would be willing to help you out. try to get a settlement. they more than likely will take it. and no dont start off at 20% either. they more than likely wont take it. try for 50-65%. more reasonable and you will probably end up paying mostly principal instead of all the lfees and interest.Frederick J Hanna - Bookshelf
