Let's at least give this guy an opportunity to prove himself. Scott didn't start off his career as a Chief! It wouldn't have mattered who was appointed as there are always going to be disagreements about why a certain individual was seclected over another. It's still hard to believe that Perez made the fainl cut with the baggage he was carrying.
For the record, I had hoped truth would speak for itself but alas it has not. I withdrew my candidacy early yesterday morning. I advised Mayor Pluto that I had accepted another offer prior to the announcement of the prospective new chief. I did so because of the apparent hostile and expedient political environment that surface once my candidacy became public. I did not withdraw because of the erroneous media reports concerning the NYS AG investigation. Anyone, wishing to read it can go to their web site and do so. A thorough reading of that report would clearly show I was not cited for any wrongdoing because I did nothing wrong. I was not forced to retire, I choose to retire because I did not want to injure an agency I had committed my energies to improve. Yet, salacious and erroneous news articles have won the day. I will devote my energies to a another community and police department willing to do a thorough reading of the true facts and then make up their minds. I know the vast majority of Holyoke's citizens are good people that would be willing to listen to the facts, if they were given an opportunity to do so. I thank and appreciate all good people that have supported me throughout the years.
