Mr. Popper's Penguins

A press release from 20th Century Fox production of a Davis Entertainment Co. in association with Dune Entertainment. Produced by John Davis. Executive producers, Jessica Tuchinsky, Mark Waters, Derek Dauchy, Joel Gotler. Co-producers, Jonathan Filley, Ira Napoliello. Directed by Mark Waters. Scenario, Sean Anders, John Morris, Jared Stern, based on the novel by Richard Atwater, Florence Atwater. Fancy a desperate attempt to revive the old "Ace Ventura" with Jim Carrey magic bringing a sextet of penguins in his apartment in Manhattan, Tony, "Mr.Popper's Penguins "is actually rooted in ancient tradition of Disney live-action comedy, with its multicolored stars, ridiculous situations and the theme of family unity. Carrey headlong back into the family pool film will do some splash with its target audience tyke, but this version will not be Fox popping up on his career highlights reel.

While husband and wife co-authors, Richard and Florence Atwater new set of their picturesque '30-era children in the small American town of Stillwater, the film is set in the smoother, more fanciful climates of the current Manhattan where commercial real champion Tom, Realtor Popper (Carrey) lives in a condo hyper-mod, alienated by his ex-wife, Amanda (Carla Gugino), and possibly more of her teenage daughter, Janie (Madeline Carroll), and more young son, Billy (Maxwell Perry Cotton). Carrey is first seen as a shark Popper, whose No.1 goal is to enter the circle of his business partners (Philip Baker Hall, Dominic Chianese, William C. Mitchell).

Housed in a brief prelude, Popper's childhood was marked by a distant relationship with his father, adventurer, always away on trips and stay in touch with his son through the discussions of short-wave radio. Now, news of the death of his father barely fazes Popper, who has not seen in years. But when dad son gift boxes containing two Antarctic penguins on the ice, Popper's life is turned upside down.

Under the direction of Mark Waters workmanlike ("Freaky Friday", "The Spiderwick Chronicles"), the film centers around the basic gimmick shots Carrey comedy and physical mark against a group of rushing and noisy penguin (lens with a combination of live action shots and well-rendered CGI animation), which seem to take the pad Popper's like fish in water, even to settle in a corner of her freezer.

How and where to set up a Roth IRA? | Roth Ira

I am 23 and a recent graduate of the college and wanted to get some information on setting up a Roth IRA. Should I do this to my bank (PNC Bank) elsewhere. Rates and yields similar to anywhere I go? What is your best advice on this? Good idea? Any other place to invest, which would get a better return in say, 30 or more years of a Roth? Your comments are appreciated.

There are many investment vehicles for a Roth. A bank would be. Their return rate is likely to be much lower than what you get from a mutual fund. However, the rate of return of banks is generally based on an interest rate is guaranteed. The performance of a mutual fund is not guaranteed.

Look at Fidelity, Vanguard or any number of other mutual funds. You will need to do some research on the specific mutual fund you want to invest in if you want to go this route. But a good index fund will give you a better rate of return over the next 40 years that the Bank would be.

Only my opinion though. Others may think you're better off with a bank.

A Roth is not an investment in itself. It's just a place to which you can place investments in order to receive tax-free growth. The best place to open a Roth is a discount broker like Scottrade, TDAmeritrade, Fidelity, Schwab, etc. The costs will generally be lower than they are in a bank.

After your Roth is open, you must decide what investments you place in it. With a period of 30 years, I suggest a diversified portfolio of no-load funds or index ETFs. Both are inexpensive and will probably do better for you in the long run the mutual funds managed actively control.

Good luck with your Roth.Remember, when you are finally old enough to take distributions, all the gains you have accumulated over the years will be tax free. Can not beat that!

In response to Sane (below): Of course, everyone wants to beat the index, but the fact is that most mutual funds do not beat the index over time. In fact, most mutual funds are not even beat index funds over the long term. So my recommendation to put the odds in his favor and go with index funds (or ETF).

Also, you say that taxes be paid when distributions are taken from an IRA. The original poster asked about a Roth IRA.Pay no taxes on qualified distributions from a Roth, as I said before.
