Help!! Building on an Aluminum Receiver from CETME Parts Kit
Springfield did not technically recall the aluminum receiver SAR-8. I have one in like-new condition and have talked to them about it. They will honor the warranty and credit you to the purchase of buying another weapon, but they don't just give you a new rifle to replace it. And it has to be in a state of failure or damage from the trunion/pin working loose... not damaged from just breaking it over a rock. :D Thanks guys for all the help. At this point I'm trying to return all the parts I purchased. I'm kicking myself right now, and rather hard, for going down this road in the first place. The parts kit I ordered had a beat-to-heck cocking tube that's non-functional. It's dented in quite a bit so that the charging handle assembly can't move forward to the front of the cocking tube. The trigger pack was also defective. It functions only on full-auto. It does not function on semi-auto whatsoever. Needless to say, I'm pissed off at myself, since I will be out a good deal of $ after paying shipping, return shipping, and the FFL transfer for the receiver. Oh well, as the saying goes, live an learn. I'll just save for a decent clone later on down the road, perhaps a PSG-1 clone. We'll see. At this point it all depends on whether or not another AWB is put in place. I have built on one of these and it was a nightmare, never could get the cocking tube to cam the rollers right and needed a pine tree to cock the weapon. Waist of time man I'd just take the parts you do have and put them on GB as for the FA91 receiver beet the crap out of it with a sledge and sell it to the scrape yard. Just my opinion , HK make the weapons with a stamped steel receiver for a reason that is how there made. FAC made that aluminum receiver for a reason , because they couldent duplicate HK's tooling to build a decent clone. Hence a CNC drawing casting and machineing. Garbage simpley garbage You could contact Todd at Ohio Rapidfire and see if he has any G3 Flats left and just roll your own.
