Hailee Steinfeld's next movie calls for nudity and sex scene from her character
That didn’t take long.
After her Oscar-nominated performance in last year’s “True Grit,” Hailee Steinfeld could be getting naked in her next role.
And she’s only 14.
Steinfeld has committed on to play Juliet in the latest film version of William Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet.”
England’s Sunday Times published an excerpt from the script, according to the Daily Mail .
“They (Romeo and Juliet) start undressing each other – slowly, gently and carefully until they are naked,” the script reads. “They are eternal figures in a Raphael painting. Romeo then carries her to bed, kissing her again and again as they explore uncharted territory. Then they make love, transported into each other’s soul.”

Director Julian Fellowes said he needs an age-appropriate actress for the role, because that’s how Shakespeare did it.
“I wanted Hailee because she is the perfect age. Juliet is at that stage of… what you might call a child/woman. Just like Hailee herself is,” he said. “My version is a romantic story – one that keeps pretty true to Shakespeare but is, I hope, more accessible.”
Of course body doubles are often used in Hollywood, even for of-age actors, so Steinfeld could be spared onscreen exposure.
For example, Dominique Swain was 15 when she starred in 1997’s “Lolita,” and a body double was used during her character’s sex scene in the film.
But there is also precedent in Hollywood for underage actors showing skin. Brooke Shields was 12 when she was filmed nude in the movie “Pretty Baby.”

Olivia Hussey, who played juliet in Zeffirelli's movie, had a relatively successful career. I only remember her in LOST HORIZON (that awful musical version), BLACK CHRISTMAS and much later in DEATH ON THE NILE. But she was all over the place in the 1970s and 1980s. Apparently she still occasionally does work and she still looks gorgeous (no cosmetic work that I can see). I have no idea what happened to Leonard Whiting (Romeo). But I had to check imdb.com to find out. He made only a handful of movies. The only one I recognize is the TV movie of FRANKENSTEIN in which he played Victor, the creature was played by 70s heart throb Michael Sarrazin and the creature's bride was Jane Seymour. And there's your dose of movie trivia for the week. Use it wisely.
