“Pet Project,” a fundraising event benefitting the Animal League of Gaston County (ALGC), takes place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 4, at City Café, 128 S. Main St., Mount Holly. The event, presented by the Catawba River Artisans, will include door prizes, a silent auction of works donated by Catawba River Artisans, a sign-up booth for low cost spay/neuter, $10 pet photos ($5 goes to ALGC), $10 face painting ($5 goes to ALGC), raffle of pet treat pottery and lunch specials at City Café. Door prizes from local businesses will be given; to enter, bring a bag of dog or cat food to donate to the ALGC.
There will also be a silent auction for artwork donated by CRA artists, obedience demonstrations and entertainment by the Fire Creek Bluegrass Band. Vendors who will be at the event include Happy Dog Café of Belmont, Tisa Jewelry Designs, Paul Alan Photography, Paul Stubbs Wildlife & Nature photography, D Designs Pet Portraits, Discount Pet Supplies and Grooming, Kelly’s K-9 Kitchen, Boomerang Bird Feeders and Greta’s Wish.

Bikes and Barbecue in Lincolnton
The 11th Annual Hog Happenin’ takes place from 6-10 p.m. Friday, June 3, and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, June 4 in downtown Lincolnton. The Friday schedule includes a kick off party, tour rides, T-Shirts and bike blessing.
The festivities continue Saturday with a bike fest and barbecue cook-off, karaoke, a poker run, a poker walk, a bike show and a kid’s zone. Both days feature live music, beer garden, barbecue, corn hole, vendors, bike games, stunt riders, competitive eating, 50/50 drawing, tour rides and swap meet.

A Saturday Evening Social Dance takes place from 7:30-10 p.m. Saturday, June 4, at the Adult Recreation Center. Line dance, shag and a variety of dance music will be provided by Dick Hamrick.
