70000 kids erred in filling OMR sheets
AHMEDABAD: Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board ( GSHSEB ) officials made a mad scramble last week to check the details of the 70,000-odd students whose marks from the objective papers had not been added in the final marksheet.
Officials spent four days to scrutinize the papers and found that the students had erred in filling details on the objective-type paper segment. It was found that majority of these students had not circled the details about the number of question paper. Since Optical Mark Reader (OMR) assesses the objective type questions, it did not read the paper and the marks were not added to the total scored by a student in the subject.
Officials said this time, 15 different question papers were distributed to students where the questions were same but the order had been jumbled. "The students were asked to circle the number of the question paper given to them. For this, the class supervisors needed to be more vigilant," a board official said.
